Quinnipiac women’s volleyball returns to Hamden on Tuesday night for its 2026 home opener, hosting Merrimack at Burt Kahn Court.

The match is scheduled for 6 p.m. and continues Metro Conference play for a Bobcats team that arrives home with several players already putting together productive individual seasons.

Giulia Ragusa enters the match as Quinnipiac’s kills leader with 129. Sahra Ozbiltekin is close behind with 122, giving the Bobcats two consistent attacking options as they begin the home portion of the schedule.

Efficiency has also been a strength for Asia Belli, who leads the team in hitting percentage among players with at least 50 attacks. Belli has posted a .351 percentage, while Sila Yildiz is next at .284.

The setting duties have been shared by Klara Olszewska and Sophia Gisslen. Olszewska leads Quinnipiac with 261 assists, while Gisslen has 235. Olszewska and Ragusa are also tied for the team lead with 11 service aces.

Quinnipiac enters the home opener after a 3-1 road win at Manhattan on Sept. 26. That result gave the Bobcats some momentum before returning to Connecticut.

Home openers are more than a date on the schedule. They give a team its first chance to establish an identity in front of its own students and supporters, and they offer coaches a different environment from the road-heavy opening weeks of a college season.

For Quinnipiac, the matchup with Merrimack is also another chance to build continuity in conference play. The Bobcats have multiple attackers producing, two setters with significant assist totals and a front line that has shown it can score efficiently.

The larger CO Sports goal is to make games like this part of the regular Connecticut sports conversation. UConn naturally receives much of the state’s college attention, but Quinnipiac, Yale, CCSU, Fairfield, Sacred Heart and other programs produce meaningful stories across dozens of sports every week.

Tuesday night in Hamden is one of them. The Bobcats are home, conference play is underway, and Quinnipiac has an opportunity to turn its first home match of 2026 into another step forward.
